hi everyone... im almost 2 weeks out of rny surgery! im feeling good and i started to eat pureed food. I was just wondering what everyone eats.. no matter what stage you're in. before i had my surgery i was well informed about what to eat immediately after but no one ever talked about down the road. it may sound silly but for instance, i really like tacos or pizza, will i ever be able to eat them again in smaller portions?! lol. so gimme an idea of what is usual for you! thanks!

during the pureed stage i ate alot of soup, tuna salad, cottage cheese, no sugar added applesauce, etc.

now you should check out this web site: www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

there are some awesome pizza ideas made out of low carb tortilla shells and i love them.  I am a pizza lover so it really helps!

yup...eggface is a LIFE SAVER!!! her recipes are amazing (I can even fool my husband with them!)

I still eat all my old favorite foods (pizza, buffalo wings and anything Mexican!), they just have to be tweeked a bit now!

As you discover how your body responds to different kinds of food, you'll get a feel for how to incorporate lower fat and lower carb versions of your favs back into the rotation!!

yes you can eat pizza and taco's when you are further out. later you just take things by trial and error.

during your stage i had chillie and whiped potatos a lot. i just had tacos tonight they where good. i was only able to eat 1 1/2. also if you dont wana make your own pizza theres a brand of pizza you can find in the freezer sectio called california pizza kitchon. they are good and healthy aim for the thin crust. but like said everythig will become trial and error once you get through the stages.

I know I still had a lot of protein shakes during the pureed stage because they are easy.   I also had a lot of tuna and chicken salad.   I was also allowed shaved turkey and chicken lunchmeat.  I would buy wendy's chili and whiz it up a little and have that too.

You will be able to have tacos or pizza again.   (after you are back on solid foods).   On a regular basis I make them at home so they are healthier, but sometimes we go out and have them.   I make tacos for my husband often and just don't eat a shell (so its less carbs).   Lean beef or chicken, black beans, cheese, and salsa are all great for you.   Also I make a lot of tortilla pizzas either using low carb tortillas or 1/3 of a flat out topped with pizza sauce, cheese, turkey pepperonis or even sliced up turkey meatballs.   The thing with the tortilla pizzas you have to make sure you take small bites and chew well.  We should do that with everything, but if it has gooey cheese on it, you have to be a little extra careful.

Good luck!!! OH is great for support and resources.

I am 3 months and 1 week out and I can eat almost anything...I have a hard time with groud beef and red meat so I try to stay away from that. I do not have soda (makes me sick) or sugar (Thank GOD for Splenda!). I stay away from bread, never any fast food...only taco bell sometimes. I eat a lot of chicken and cheese. I still find it hard to eat sometimes...some days I will be really hungry and other days I am not hungry at all. I went to my doc this past Thursday and he said that I need to eat more because I am not eating enough. I am half way to my goal...so I am hoping that I can lose the rest in the next 3 months seeing as the first 6 months is fast...

The stage that you are in sucks, but it will go fast!

Good luck!

I am 6 weeks out and cleared for solids.
Also LOVED tacos and pizza pre-op, NOW i cant stand either!!! It was sad when i tried a taco (minus the shell) and i couldnt even get it down. and then i had the toppings off of a piece of pizza and that also did not make it down to the pouch! It just tasted sooo different and somehow i just knew it would not sit well in the pouch.
I also have a hard time with chicken and can no longer stand eggs!
The only thing that really sits well is seafood. LOVE shrimp and seafood ceviche. Would definitely have been my last choice pre-op...but i did pray day and night that this would be a total lifestyle change!!
